Frank Black, often referred to as the “Godfather of Alternative Rock”, is a renowned American musician and songwriter. He is best known as the frontman of the influential alternative rock band Pixies, and for his successful solo career.
Frank Black was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1965. Growing up in an Irish-Catholic family, he was exposed to a variety of music at an early age. He began playing guitar at the age of 12, and by his late teens had joined several local punk and rock bands. In 1986, he formed the Pixies with drummer David Lovering, bassist Kim Deal and guitarist Joey Santiago.
